Last week the Sodium Cyanide (SCN) Plant Expansion project team achieved an early milestone in the construction phase of the project after only recently completing the engineering phase of the project – a huge milestone in itself. “The project is focused on debottlenecking and modernising the existing plant and improving critical infrastructure, all while maintaining safe and continuous operations,” Project Manager Major Projects,” Greg Samuels said, “Moving from engineering and design to construction phase isn’t just an engineering milestone — it’s the turning point where concept becomes construction. Gold Processing for Non-Metallurgists Workshop AGR, in partnership with Curtin University, will host the second annual ‘Gold Processing for Non-Metallurgists’ workshop in May 2018 at its Kwinana site. The workshop will be facilitated by Curtin University and is designed to broaden the knowledge of non-technical employees within the gold mining industry. Topics that will be covered in the workshop include: A general overview of gold processing techniques. Recovery methods. Smelting. Refining and post-production management. AGR’s Peter Cooper Elected as Vice Chair of ICMI’s Industry Advisory Group (IAG) Peter Cooper, AGR’s Export Manager, has been elected as Vice Chair of the International Cyanide Management Institute’s (ICMI) Industry Advisory Group (IAG). The IAG is a forum to advance the education, communication and discussion about the implementation of the International Cyanide Management Code amongst the program’s participating signatory companies. Peter will be working closely over the next two years with Scott Miller, Group Executive – Environment at Newmont Mining Corporation as the elected Chair of the IAG. Microsoft Power BI improves efficiency and safety As a tool that aggregates, analyses and visualises data, Power BI has been implemented with the assistance of the Wesfarmers Chemicals, Energy and Fertilisers (WesCEF) IT team who helped configure and troubleshoot the models as part of a collaborative approach at WesCEF. The models draw information from a variety of sources including MacroView Historian (plant data), Labware, Cintillate, Appointment Book and JDE, generating useful data for engineers, supervisors and managers to monitor and view key plant metrics.
