Australian Gold Reagents’ (AGR) Board has made a final investment decision to proceed with the expansion of its sodium cyanide production facility in Kwinana, Western Australia, positioning AGR as one of the world’s largest sodium cyanide producers for the gold mining industry. AGR General Manager Barney Jones said the expansion would enable the business to meet the growing global demand for sodium cyanide for gold mining operations, while delivering on its sustainability goals. “The expansion will increase AGR’s annual sodium cyanide production capacity by over 30 per cent, bringing total sodium cyanide solution capacity to approximately 130,000 tonnes per annum. It also includes an increase in our solids production capacity to facilitate increased exports to our international customers,” Mr Jones […]
Algorithms drive innovation at AGR Australian Gold Reagents (AGR) has implemented internally-built technology upgrades for solution sodium cyanide scheduling and despatch which is saving time, improving efficiency and reducing the potential for human error. Historically, AGR has scheduled its solution sodium cyanide deliveries using a manual system, where customer usage and delivery schedules were calculated by the Chemical Distribution Team. While this process has operated well for many years, there were some potential risks including double handling, paper based processes, human error – as some documentation was hand written and relied on specific customer knowledge – due to rules around tank sizes, levels, usage, delivery day, timing and reorder points. Over an eight month period, incremental releases of the solution […]

Safety first As a leader in safety performance, Australian Gold Reagents (AGR) have taken our skills and experience globally, working with transport networks to ensure the safe delivery and handling of our product. Experienced AGR representatives recently visited East Java, Indonesia to work with the International Cyanide Management Institute (ICMI) accredited transporter, PT Trans Continent, to conduct safety training, review the transport route for potential hazards and to recommend controls to mitigate any risk with the handling or transport of sodium cyanide. The mine-site is located approximately 380km south east of Surabaya and is a 12 hour drive from the shipping port. Prior to the first delivery of product, AGR representatives together with management and truck drivers from PT Trans Continent […]
AGR breaks new ground in Guyana Australian Gold Reagents (AGR) has been exporting sodium cyanide internationally since 2002. Sodium cyanide deliveries, particularly into new international markets, require months of planning, including conducting initial transport route surveys to identify hazards and ensure adequate controls are in place to mitigate risk; hosting driver and safety team training, including emergency response exercises; and preparing tailored, comprehensive transport management plans and emergency response guides. As a result of this planning, and AGR’s commitment to safety, the first shipment of products into a new market, Guyana has been successful and led to ongoing supply.
